[Bug 467089] [NEW] "People nearby: Network error" when nickname not set

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: telepathy-salut

After installing telepathy-salut, every time I start Empathy I get
"People nearby: Network error". This is a really unhelpful error
message. It goes away and Salut starts discovering people nearby if I
press the button to edit my account info and type something in the
(empty by default) nickname field.

Please make the error message more informative. "Nickname not set"
would work.
