I have tested all screen resolutions manually using ubuntu's display
configuration.

Only the following can be activated successfully:
1680 x 1050   16:10
1280 x 1024    5:4
832   x   624    4:3
640   x  480     4:3

All others either fail with going back to login screen or end up with a
new picture with the newly configured resolution, however the screen is
not built up completely and no longer updated.
