[Bug 461623] [NEW] closed applications stay on the taskbar

Public bug reported:

It has happened several times to me that I closed an application and the
taskbar kept showing it, even though it was no longer running. The only
way to get rid of it was to logout and log back in. Most of the time it
seems to be Firefox that causes this behaviour, but I think I have had
the same problem with for instance Kopete (but I am not 100% sure).
