Download from http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/l/linux/ the
right image:

linux-image-2.6.24-25-generic_2.6.24-25.63_amd64.deb
or 
linux-image-2.6.24-25-generic_2.6.24-25.63_i386.deb

So install it with: "sudo dpkg -i linux-
image-2.6.24-25-generic_2.6.24-25.63_amd64.deb"
