The new version (0.4.0-2) of Virtaal contains a lot of new features and bug fixes. From the release announcement:

It was successfully built from the Debian sources (from
http://packages.debian.org/unstable/main/virtaal) with Karmic pbuilder
and installed/tested on a Karmic VM. It depends, however, on the
inclusion of version 1.4.0-1 of the Translate Toolkit (see bug 451269
for the relevant FFE request).

Bug 388262 is a request to sync the Debian version and can be closed if
this FFE is granted.

  * debian/control: Standards-Version bumped to 3.8.2. No changes.
  * debian/rules: Removed dh_desktop, this is now handled with a trigger.

    depending on too many python libraries at build time (--nodepcheck added)
  * debian/rules: Remove the generated (binary) MO files in the clean rule to
    allow building twice in a row
  * debian/patches/debian_remove_tests: Do not distribute the test directory.
  * debian/patches/fail_for_missing_dependencies: Fail when the dependencies
    are checked (and some dependencies are missing) during build time, instead
