Just downgraded to 1.1.29 which has worked for me for months, and it
suffered the same problem, so I think there must be an
environment/library issue on Karmic.  Note that this worked ok on Karmic
until 1.1.30, the probem with 1.1.30 is a known problem now fixed, but I
have not run eve on Karmic for 3 weeks as I was waiting for 1.1.31 to
hit the repo, so it could easily be another package upsetting it....
trying a full fresh install in 1.1.29 now.
