I recommend installing a Karmic kernel (the one in the PPA is there just
for build purposes).

The warning "This is not a genuine Ubuntu package" is because the PPA
packages are not official Ubuntu packages and are not officially
supported. I think this is pretty clear from the PPA page. If you have
enabled the PPA without reading the PPA page you should complain to the
one who instructed you to add the PPA.
