Confirming on Jaunty 9.04:

(%i1) plot3d(atan(-x^2+y^3/4),[x,-4,4],[y,-4,4],[grid,50,50]);

Maxima encountered a Lisp error:

Automatically continuing.
To reenable the Lisp debugger set *debugger-hook* to nil.
