[Bug 439464] Re: no desktop

i was update my laptop (http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:T41) from
alpha to beta-karmic. and i have the same "problem" - no
desktop/background.

if i disable compiz - i have my desktop(folders/files) and also a
wallpaper. dmesg say:

my gcard on laptop:

    *  ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 with 32MB or
    * ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 with 32MB 

this chip can not display "normal" compiz settings without problems.
now, without compiz the laptop works fine.
