I did a bit of work on this today with Ikuya-san:

The following tasks remain to be done:

* Upstream uses an old AM_PATH_GTK_2_0 macro
* gettext domain to kasumi.desktop.in for rosetta support
* settings menu
* no .pot is generated during build
* run $(MAKE) -C po kasumi.pot-update during build (after configure)
* out of date Makefile.in in intl and po
* include configure in EXTRA_DIST
