Thank you for your post.
The Internet was truly brutal yesterday do to the holiday shoppers. It
will probably be equally as bad later today.
While well phrased, your explanation doesn't make sense. All of the
packages I listed are bundled with the Java Development package. What I
installed from Synaptic was the Eclipse Java development tools package.
(Then in desperation I did what others have done and installed
_everything_ which had eclipse in the name.) Even after all of that,
the Java Development package from the Eclipse Web site still had the 100
or so JAR files missing. It is like someone is compiling the
distribution for here with a static script instead a rules based thing.
The greater part of my frustration was coming from the fact a package
with the same name was missing so much content. If this is being done
with a static script it will _always_ be out of sync from the Eclipse
Web site. The fact that it was this far out of sync was quite shocking.
Currently there is only one way to get Eclipse working properly under
Ubuntu. After installing _everything_ which has eclipse in the name,
one has to visit this site and follow the instructions downloading and
installing another 100+ Meg.

btw. I found nothing offensive in your message. I've been in IT over 20
years, very little offends me anymore.
