Public bug reported:

I tried to install asoundconf-gtk as described on this page for Jaunty
(although they mistyped it as asound-gtk):

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PulseAudio

It installs fine with apt-get, but after that running the applet (which
has no icon?) from the preferences doesn't spawn a window. Running it
manually on the command line gives:

sh: /usr/bin/asoundconf: not found
You need to make sure asoundconf is active!
By default, asoundconf's configuration file is ~/.asoundrc.asoundconf
and must be included in ~/.asoundrc. Open this file to make sure it is!

Looks like it doesn't set up it's own configuration when installed...

** Affects: asoundconf-gtk (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
