Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: grub2
Failed to merge grub.cfg after running update manager and getting the
latest kernal following a clean install of 9.10-AMD64 that followed a
Windows 7(32-bit) upgrade on dual boot Toshiba L305D-S5959 Laptop. Of
course the clean install was done in response to losing grub with the
Windows 7 32-bit upgrade. This was an easy fix on another system that
had Ubuntu 9.04 as the only previous system when installing Win 7 RC x64
to create another dual-booting system . Now I have no idea where this
stands yet. But looking at grub.cfg l don't really see the problem, but
I'm not bug hunting there tonight. I'll copy on the bottom of this post.
Haven't re-booted yet, but I'm betting it's okay.
This may just be a little bit of scary error trapping by somebody, and
not truly a bothersome bug.
Admittedly I'm trying to break things in Win 7 and Ubuntu both. FYI, I
have an MS TechNet Subscription for research purposes. But the Win7 32
upgrade was a Toshiba customized for their laptops as I purchased a new
laptop just last August. All I can say is grub-pc/grub2 certainly has
obfuscated the fix compared to the straightforward method before the
release of 9.10.
Here's grub.cfg, unedited.
