[Bug 484155] [NEW] vol_id not found, please install udev error (vol_id deprecated)

When creating an instance the following error is returned:

Could not add os for instance test.example.com on node node.example.com: OS create script failed (exited with exit code 1), last lines in the log file:
vol_id not found, please install udev

However udev is installed. According to this thread
(http://tinyurl.com/ygwphvz) the problem is due to the deprecation of
vol_id in karmic in favour of blkid. A patch (also on that thread) has
been applied to the instance-debootstrap repository and should likely be
included in the Ubuntu distribution (see attached, which also includes
the quote fix discussed in the thread).
