I have the same problem on Ubuntu studio 9.10

PDP INIT ERROR: pd symbol clash adding symbol pdp: new=05692bd0 old=0210c880
try loading pdp before other libraries

+ Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn, Ubuntu Studio packages installed, Pentium 4,

- PDP INIT ERROR: pd symbol clash adding symbol pdp: new=05692bd0 old=0210c880
- try loading pdp before other libraries
+ When I try to use pdp as installed by the package pd-pdp, I get the
+ following error in the main puredata window:
