You should be able to install without xorg using the alternate CD. There
are already a number of freeze bug reports for 855GM, but we are happy
to take more. We would need a batchbuffer dump to get any further,
though. Take a look at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/Freeze
for how to get that and at these bugs
