I couldn't resist chiming in here.. even though I know it is
inappropriate.

Not to detract from it, but I wouldn't call Eagle _the_ industry standard for PCB design. Protel, Altium, PADs, OrCad...?
Eagle is very popular with hobbyists, and is important to see its package working on Ubuntu from a QA point of view.

Fortunately we also have some nice open source EDA packages in Ubuntu as well.. Kicad and gEDA + PCB. (I'm biased
there, as I'm a gEDA / PCB developer).

Both of the above open source packages are seriously competitive with Eagle (assuming no design legacy to support).
I wonder how we can better advertise their presence to new converts.
