Same here....

Brand new Ubuntu 9.10 64bit (not upgrade).  Hue is all way to the left.
I could fix it in VLC by applying hue filters (and dragging hue all the
way to the middle of the slider) but it would not "stick".

Same problem with mplayer.  Paradoxically, if I played the video with
avidemux, it would play with the correct hue.

Yiannis Kipouros (geia sou gianni) fix, DID work for ALL video players
and "sticks" across different video playbacks.
