Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: exaile
Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic), exaile 0.3.0.1-0ubuntu6
Additional background:
I'm a recent convert from Amarok. Most of my music is sorted in subdirectories like artist/album with the cover art stored as "album-front.jpg" in the album subdirectory. (Soundtracks and compilations are special cases, but each album has its own subdirectory.)
The problem:
Used the menu Edit->Covers open cover manager, clicked on start to retrieve covers. This appeared to work correctly. I started playing the new Tori Amos album, "Abnormally Addicted to Sin", but exaile displayed the cover art for "American Doll Posse". I attempted to correct the problem by right-clicking on the cover in the main window and selecting "Fetch Cover". The pop-up window displayed the correct cover art. I clicked "OK" and the cover art in the main window changed to the correct album. But on the next track, the incorrect art was displayed again.
I opened the cover manager again to attempt to fix the problem there.
That's when I discovered that neither "Abnormally Addicted to Sin" nor
"American Doll Posse" were shown. (See the attached screenshot.) As far
as I can tell, there is no way for me to set the correct artwork for
these albums from the exaile gui.
I did eventually find the "American Doll Posse" artwork in the cover
manager under "Tori Amos - Tori Amos" (to be attached in another
comment). However, I've double-checked all my ogg tags for "Tori Amos"
instead of "Amos, Tori". I have no files tagged with "Tori Amos", let
alone with "Tori Amos" as the album name.
Possible contributing factors: I have >9500 tracks, many of which have
Japanese file names or tag data. Most of my artist names include commas
and parentheses to ensure they sort correctly.
I'd be happy to query the databases directly for more info if you could
tell me which tools to use. (The file command gives me "cover.db: 8086
relocatable (Microsoft)" and "music.db: Berkeley DB (Hash, version 9,
native byte-order)"). All of the old Sleepycat links now point to
Oracle's marketing verbiage.
