[Bug 476507] [NEW] vlc can't play VCD

Binary package hint: vlc

vlc was never able to play VCD disk on my machine.
Starting vlc and click on the menu open VCD/SVCD results in nothing except
the line vcd:///dev/sr0 on the status line

Starting vcd by the command line vls -vv vcd:///dev/sr0 &
result in this kind of message

0xddea48] ps demux warning: found sync code
[0xddea48] ps demux warning: garbage at input, trying to resync...

which was repeated contunuously. IT appears that the problem resides
in reading the disk. But, other player, such as xine-ui, plays the disc without
problem.

This is the version 1.0.2 of vlcc in karmic 9.10
