It seems to be an old problem: 
maps.google.de starts up correctly but it does not answer when locations are given as input.

The suggested fix works fine with me (for google.de as well as google.com) but the problem description is more than 3 years old and it might be better to fix the bug for all new users now. 
I am a new user to konqueror; just installed kubunt karmic.
