[Bug 438000] Re: [i945gm] [karmic] X servers hangs when settings up dual monitor config

I'm seeing similar symptoms with a clean Karmic install on a Dell
Latitude D420. Connect up a second screen, go to
system/preferences/display and the display hangs with a black screen.
The graphics controller is as follows;

00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME,
943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)
