[Bug 380038] [NEW] cant bind keys with swedish characters

Binary package hint: sdlmame

when i try to bind swedish keys on my keybord  to something in the sdlmame input - general - user interface 
it doesent register the key being pressed.
I can reproduce this with "åäö"


package name is sdlmame , version 0.123-0ubuntu1
im running ubuntu 8.10

This wouldnt really be a problem if it wast for the case that the usb
adapter for my joystick uses some of these swedish keys so i cant use
some buttons on my joystick.
