Gnomesword is no longer developed. It has been renamed into Xiphos see
xiphos.org

Crosswire packaging team is working on updating Sword, Xiphos, Bibletime
and Bibledit in Debian and Karmic. You can try our packages from the PPA

We have Hardy - Jaunty there.

Please check if the problem persist with Xiphos from the ppa.
