Found a resolution for this over on a Debian site.  Seems something
wacky going on with accessing the Home Folder:

Went into '~/.qemulator/config
modified the 'mainsettings' and set the 'imagespath' to 'qemu' sub-directory:

p14
sS'imagespath'
p15
S'/home/username/qemu'

I now get Control monitor appearing every time, and the main qemulator
window doesn't hang.
