[Bug 347544] Re: pidgin 2.5.5 and mail-notification sound distortion/no sound

I've done a clean installation of Jaunty. With previous versions (8.04
and 8.10) I had no problem with the sound. But now (in Jaunty 9.04) each
time a pidgin contact is connected (or emesene or aMSN), or a new mail
arrives, there is a noise in the speakers very unpleasant, like a
crackling.

This fact not always. This happens at random.

I have all the defaults after the clean installation of Jaunty 9.04.

Model: MCP51 High Definition Audio 
Vendor: nVidia Corporation (ASUSTeK Computer Inc.)
Sound Device: ALC883
