I think this might be apm related. strace looks like it can't find some apm files. apm_available returns code 1. When I modprobe apm, I see the following in dmesg:
[399389.775014] apm: BIOS version 1.2 Flags 0x03 (Driver version 1.16ac)
[399389.775017] apm: disabled - APM is not SMP safe.
[400565.525610] apm: BIOS version 1.2 Flags 0x03 (Driver version 1.16ac)
[400565.525613] apm: disabled on user request.
[400602.898830] apm: BIOS version 1.2 Flags 0x03 (Driver version 1.16ac)
[400602.898833] apm: disabled on user request.
I am working on taking apm out of sleepd, but it is not so easy.
