Hello everybody,
rarely I have this problem too.

I'm under Ubuntu 8.04.2 using audacious 1.5.0-2ubuntu2~hardy1

I run audacious from console and i get the following single message after trying to play a song:
MADPlug-Message: failed to open audio output: XMMS reverse compatibility output plugin

I googled for that and found that bug report.

Sorry, I didnt tried the latest Ubuntu release.
Just wanted to mention that its still an issue for some users.
