Complete system freezes like this are not a problem with Wine itself (or
its audio drivers); Wine runs as a user-level application, and shouldn't
be able to cause a complete system crash unless it is simply exposing a
driver problem - in this case in your video card.

There has been some work on driver lockup problems in Ubuntu 9.04 - if
you're still experiencing the problem in the latest Ubuntu, I'd suggest
checking the wiki and maybe trying the different drivers there.  Thank
you for reporting!
