This issue was fixed in sshfs-fuse (2.0-1) and got into Ubuntu 8.10 as
sshfs-fuse (2.0-2)

* Removed debian/sshfs.1 since it's now included upstream.

* Doesn't strip binaries. (Closes: #438041)
