No, the new package needs to be merged properly. I see that I get to

I don't think that this is a so harmless as you claim. I really like to
have it tested in the wild before considering an SRU.
However feel free to work on that in a PPA.
And TBH, I don't understand all the fuzz people are making about
this. It really isn't so hard to remove the unstripped package before
building.
