[Bug 371008] [NEW] 904 (810 also) alternative install hangs at partitioner

I'm used to installing Ubuntu from alternative install CD, but both 904
& 810 (jaunty & intrepid) fails on this PC.

I tried two PATA hard disks, both are recognized in another console
(alt+F2) in dmesg, I can fdisk them, but when install comes to
partitioning, it either doesn't find the disk (60GB), or hangs at 52%
(40GB).

Install from Live CD is working.

Tried both install from CD & USB stick, no difference (looked also in
/var/log/partitioner, saw 74 iterations of something, but I couldn't
grasp what is wrong with partitioner).
