There are some changes in the xorg.conf now since under jaunty from time to time internal input devices are not recognized. 
As the bug makes it impossible to switch to a console or to login i can't send you the actual Xorg.0.log

Would the Xorg.0.log.old help if I boot up again afterwards with the
vesa driver enabled ?
