Sorry, I've since switched to Google Calendar instead, but I'll tell you
what I can.

Set up an iCal on a server and configure a couple of clients to access it.
Add some events that should produce reminders.
Open the calendar on one computer.
If reminders come up, clicking dismiss removes the reminders.  This is what I expect.
Do some work on the calendar.
Open the calendar on another computer while it's still open on the first one.
If reminders come up, try dismissing them.  It didn't work for me.
Close the calendar on the first computer.
Open it again on the second computer.  Now dismissing reminders works.
