[Bug 348498] [NEW] gedit hangs on activating character map plugin

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit-plugins

To reproduce open gedit and go to Edit -> Preferences -> Plugins. Then
activate the Character Map plugin. You may have to disable it before. On
activating gedit hangs with following warnings:

sys:1: Warning: cannot register existing type `GucharmapChaptersView'
sys:1: Warning: g_once_init_leave: assertion `initialization_value != 0' failed
sys:1: Warning: g_object_new: assertion `G_TYPE_IS_OBJECT (object_type)' failed
