from version 0.9.6-3.1 the timestamp doesn't work anymore

I understand bug report #285840, but I have vgrabbj 0.9.6-3 installed
and working without freetype1 (aka freetype1-tools) and it displayed
timestamp when using free fonts like: /usr/share/fonts/truetype/ttf-
dejavu/DejaVuSans.ttf

So I don't understand why timestamp has to be disabled to remove
dependency
