ok.. I also see that, the the MPPE kernel module get not loaded.

user at nb:~$ lsmod | grep -i mppe
user at nb:~$ dmesg | grep -i mppe
user at nb:~$ grep -i mppe /boot/config-2.6.27-14-generic
CONFIG_PPP_MPPE=m
