[Bug 346150] [NEW] handling of favicons (site secure information) and tab handling is broken with firefox 3.1 beta3 (and beta3 pre)

Public bug reported:

a working favicon displaying the state of the current page (blue,
encrypted secure site) or green (online banking) is critical to safe and
secure usage of mailboxes, online banking and other activities

unfortunately this isn't the case with the firefox 3.1 beta3 (and pre
beta3) builds provided by the repository,

the favicon is only showing one state and doesn't work when being
clicked on

besides that tab-handling with tab-mix-plus is broken despite add-on
compatibility check being disabled

both issues don't appear at all at a firefox 3.1 beta2 on Gentoo (haven't seen beta 3) being compiled from source

maybe some CFLAGS are screwing up functionality ...

please have a look and try to fix it so that it can be properly tested

thanks for providing those builds !

** Affects: firefox-3.1 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
