IMO kwin is buggy and crappy and sucks in every way. I'm running KDE4.2
on Intrepid (Intel graphics chipset) and have had nothing but problems
(enabling effects leads to a black screen, performance is really slow,
window decorations disappear..) whereas Gnome + Compiz works just
perfectly. Now I'm running Compiz (compiz --replace) instead of kwin and
KDE4.2 became usable :)
