Public bug reported:
I've experimented extensively with vlc to try to get it to play an ogg
stream over http smoothly. I've turned up the HTTP buffer size to 6000
milliseconds, turned up the audio sync adjust to 6000 milliseconds,
tried the various threading/realtime options, and most recently I
uninstalled all other audio players and sound-related packages (which
led to me uninstalling all of KDE), reinstalled just vlc, and then ran
"cvlc --config=/dev/null http://radio1190.colorado.edu:8000/high.ogg".
It still skips. However, if I run "wget
http://radio1190.colorado.edu:8000/high.ogg & sleep 2 ; cvlc
--config=/dev/null high.ogg" then it plays smoothly. OH wait! No it
doesn't. Okay, here's the best demonstration yet: "cvlc
--config=/dev/null high.ogg" skips and stutters, but "alsaplayer
./high.ogg" plays smoothly.
This is with vlc 0.9.8a1-ubuntu4, libvorbis0a 1.2.0.dfsg-3.1, and
libogg0 1.1.3-4build1.
** Affects: vlc (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
