You do not mention any versions, but it looks like this happened during Intrepid (8.10) development and should have been fixed in 1.4.19-2.
Hardy has 1.4.19-0ubuntu3 and Intrepid 1.4.19-4ubuntu2.

Please re-open, in case the problem still persists and consider using
apport/"ubuntu-bug" to report any future issues, which will
automatically include version information.
