[Bug 344284] [NEW] iotop deb dependencies lacking anything for the kernel

Public bug reported:

I installed iotop on my intrepid laptop and saw that it was good.
Wanting to play with it on hardy and seeing it was not in apt, I
uploaded the deb to my server and successfully "$ sudo dpkg -i
iotop_0.2-2_all.deb". However running it gave me the following error
message:

$ iotop
Could not run iotop as some of the requirements are not met:
- Python >= 2.5 for AF_NETLINK support: Found
- Linux >= 2.6.20 with I/O accounting support: Not found

and yes I didn't have the right kernel:
$ uname -a
Linux artemis 2.6.16.29-xen #10 SMP Sun Aug 24 23:04:59 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux

The iotop programme clearly depends on a certain kernel version, but the
Depends section of the deb doesn't list it. It does correctly list
python 2.5+ as a dependency.

$ dpkg --info iotop_0.2-2_all.deb  | grep Depends
 Depends: python (>= 2.5), python-support (>= 0.7.1)

** Affects: iotop (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
