Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: multitail

The default configuration for multitail has the check_mail option set to
"5". This causes multitail to look for /var/mail/$USER, which does not
exist on any Ubuntu machine I've used.

Description: Ubuntu 8.04.2
Release: 8.04

Package: multitail
Version: 5.2.0-1

(The same issue exists in 5.2.2-1, which is the version Intrepid and
Jaunty use.)

The fix is to set check_mail to "0" in the default configuration file,
which disables mail checking. (Personally, I don't why a log tailer
needs to check my mail anyway.)

** Affects: multitail (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
