[Bug 290498] Re: linux-rt restricted to one CPU

@Alessio: not quite.

I've installed the 2.6.28-2-rt kernel on my desktop and my laptop, which
have nothing in common hardware-wise. The kernel does see the second
core, but (reportedly) it's unusable. Running 'top' and pressing '1' I
get:

Cpu0  :  0.7%us,  0.3%sy,  0.0%ni, 99.0%id,  0.0%wa,  0.0%hi,  0.0%si,  0.0%st
Cpu1  :  4.3%us,  0.7%sy,  0.0%ni,  0.0%id,  0.0%wa, 95.0%hi,  0.0%si,  0.0%st

The second core remains at 95-99% no matter what.

Plus, if I try to reboot, by using the user-switch applet on my desktop
or by pressing the power button on my laptop for the dialogue to show
up, the computer stops responding to keyboard and mouse events (I do see
my temperature and CPU monitor applets updating themselves, so the
computer does not hang entirely), and the computer does not reboot.

Let me know how I can help debug this.
