The ccreds config is split between two separate profiles, needed because the
generated config snippets are concatenated linearly.

According to the documentation, "update" is (for some reason) a synonym for
"delete".

Not able to reproduce this here.  Can you provide a copy of
/etc/pam.d/common-auth, /var/lib/pam/auth, and /var/lib/pam/seen?

Correct.  Debian bug #518042, fixed in pam 1.0.1-7.
