The problem can not be reproduced with NTFS-3G 2009.2.1, internal FUSE
and kernel 2.6.26.

NTFS-3G and/or the kernel is too old in Ubuntu 8.10. Upstream NTFS-3G
has closed this issue report as INVALID and Ubuntu specific.
