So I would agree that this isn't a gscan2pdf bug per se, but from the
user interface perspective it's definitely not ideal.

I'm not familiar enough with the Debian package system to suggest a
solution, but it seems like there ought to be a way to set the default
package based on the user's language selections, rather than just an
alphabetical first-come-first-install basis. I'm sure this issue comes
up from time to time with other applications.
