[Bug 339640] [NEW] Pida fails to launch

Binary package hint: pida
I installed pida 0.5.1-5 from Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid) repository using synaptic.
pida:
Installed: 0.5.1-5
Candidate: 0.5.1-5

it fails to launch, other users have reported this behavior as well

Upon invocation from the application menu, pida presents dialog window where the user chooses vim or emacs as the embedded editor.
I chose emacs.
Pida greeting stating that pida is launching and that it loves me appeared
an xemacs window appeared.
The pida greeting hangs and a force quit was required to make it go away.
After closing xemacs I then invoked pida from terminal so that I could
catch the output.
