[Bug 338681] [NEW] screen shows garbage when swiching the first time to VT

Public bug reported:

On a fresh installe jaunty (alpha5), the first time I try to switch to a VT the screen shows complete garbage.
I have to switch back to X and then switch again to a VT

dmesg shows:
