Hello,
I have the same problem with another intel video chip, the details are below.
I have installed the drivers from
https://edge.launchpad.net/~intel-gfx-testing/+archive/ppa
by adding the hardy repository.
The screen blocks, but I can restart the xserver by pressing ctfl+alt+del (the system is not blocked).
The problem are the visual effects (compiz), it works fine without compiz.
